Tools & Everyday Utility [at Home]

The tool box. It’s got all your tools, doesn’t it? That metal clunky foot-locker of a thing. I need to put shoes on around that. I just have an unreasonable fear of hurting my feet or stubbing my toes. What? It’s not unreasonable at all? Well, I guess I do have some Tradeswoman boots. Good thing I keep them on the shoe shelf. I know it’s more of a rack, but I liked the way it sounded better the first time.

Good tools are hard to come by. Not everything is made in the U.S.A. anymore. Nothing like getting halfway through a job and having a tool break down. Or getting frustrated when a cheap tool starts doing more damage than work. On the other hand, there are some tools that seem to last a lifetime. Tools of the trade. Which trade you might ask? Well, there are lots of trades. There’s Carpentry, there’s Masonry. Plumbers, Electricians. Oh, and we can’t forget Framers. What am I forgetting? Oh yeah, Drywallers. How about the Tile guy? What? That’s already covered in Masonry? Well what about Concrete? That’s a different Contractor? And sometimes they have subcontractors? I’m getting confused again. Why are there so many parts to a home you might ask? Because! It’s the law, of course.

Building permit this, Contractor that. Where’s my darn screwdriver? Oh I got it right here. And the good tape measure. Bring that one. Do you need me to hold the light? No that’s already on silly. What about the headlamp? Oh actually, that’s a good idea. Why don’t you fetch that for me. You know where it is. Yeah! It’s in the toolbox, right where we left it.

Tools

You may not be a tradesperson, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use the tools of the trade. The good ones. The ones that get the job done. The ones for professionals. What’s that? You don’t feel like a pro? Well, that’s all right. You know, the first step to being sort of good at something is sucking at it first. No, I’m not calling you a sucker, silly. I’m just saying, we all got to start somewhere. You might as well start with, you know, the good stuff.

With the kind of tools that really do work. Every time. That don’t give up before you do. Now that’s teamwork that makes the dream work. What am I dreaming about you ask? Well, if I told you, you wouldn’t believe me. Stop daydreaming? Okay, okay, I’ll be serious for a minute. But just one! Okay, all right. That was my last joke, I promise. Promise? Yes. At least until we get the job done, that is. What? You know I can’t help it. No smiling.

Everyday Utility

You know, I may not be that tall, but that’s why it’s always good to have some great help. But great help isn’t always easy to come by. Sometimes we need a helping hand. But what do we do when it’s just me, myself, and I? Well, they make a tool for that, actually. It’s called a ladder. Oh! That’s a good idea. I’ll go get the step-ladder from the garage. How many people does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Was that a joke or something? Okay, I am laughing a little. You get points for that one.

And what about when our tools don’t reach? The extension cord. Go get it. Oh yeah, I love extension cords. I plug all the Christmas lights in with those. And when we’re working outside, it seems like there’s always less plug outlets. I don’t have enough extension cords for this after all. Hmm. Oh! I know, let’s get the cordless tools. Yes. Mhm. I did remember to charge the battery. I know right?! It’s a miracle. It’s all ready to go and everything. From power packs for your portable power tools to basic batteries for your gadgets, batteries sure do come in handy. From everday utility to emergency situations. Don’t settle for the cheap stuff. That way, that thing is ready to work when you are. The best batteries are always worth their salt. Don’t be salty, we’re already going to get sweaty doing this. What’s that? Sweat is in fact salty? That’s gross. How do you know that?
