Loyalty [at Home]

noun

“Loyalty means the quality of staying firm, faithful, and supportive of your commitment to a person, place, or thing.” – Collins Dictionary

Inbound Loyalty

Loyalty. Being loyal is like setting your internal compass to true north. Loyalty guides your path. We hear about it in stories. It’s spoken about in the movies. Regarded on TV shows. We read about it in books. But where do we find the best example of loyalty? Where do we turn when those we idolize don’t match reality? Something that seems almost mythical at times. When it’s hard to count on others, it’s hard to hold onto hope. Difficult to hold our faith close. Easy to lose yourself in someone else’s lies. We’ve all been there before. Not everyone in life is going to be honest with you, but you can always be honest with yourself. Self loyalty.

It’s important to practice loyalty to yourself. When the environment changes, who will you choose to be? So often, life demands all sorts of performances from us. We wish to rise above the fray. We wish to succeed against the odds. We wish to impress others. But it’s important not to change who you are to fit the direction of your path. Who you are when no one is watching. How we choose to be faithful to ourselves. Our continued support of our truths at our core. Even when external feedback says otherwise. That’s all possible when your self love is stronger than the noise.

Outbound Loyalty

Staying firm in your faith to yourself does something magical. Being honest with yourself makes it easier to be honest with others. Maintaining our commitments to ourselves changes the way we approach things naturally. We see we may have been performing for an audience that never really valued the act anyways. Energy saved is energy received. That energy flows back into our hearts and out through our hands. Into the people and things we love most. Suddenly, the path seems much clearer. What matters to you comes into focus.

Loyalty at Home

Loyalty to self. How does it translate into the home? It transmutes the energy you would have otherwise spent into the people and things you actually care about. Lessons in loyalty. Choosing to take care of your home affairs before external demands. Making sure all your needs will be met at home. Curtailing your desires such that nothing in the home falls out of order. Ensuring everyone and everything in the home is receiving all the love that they or it needs. Loyalty at home.
